Job Interview Hints and Tips | Application Process

Applying for a new job can sometimes be stressful. At Eastern Western Motor Group we are here to help and guide you through the whole process. Below you will find some helpful tips and advice for each stage of the process. We want to help you promote the best version of yourself!

The Application Process

Make sure your application form is up to date.
Think about what will impress us.
We want to know about your work experience of course, but what else have you done?
Bear in mind which job you’re applying for and make sure you tell us which skills you have that closely match what are required for the role.
This might seem like common sense, but make sure you check for any spelling mistakes and other errors. And no 'txt spk', please.

Interview Preparation

Good preparation is the way to ensure you get the most out of your interview.
Learn as much as you can about the company as this shows you have a keen interest in coming to work for us.
Research the position and the skills/behaviours required. Make sure you read over the job advert and are clear on what is entailed in the role.
Think about how you would structure an answer to a competency-based question.
Competancy based questions usually begin "Give us an example of ..." or "Tell us about a time when..." You should start by providing a brief background to the situation, describe what you had to achieve, tells us in detail how you achieved it, and then let us know what the outcome was.

On The Day

Listen carefully to the interviewer’s questions so you can answer them properly.
If you don’t understand the question don’t be afraid to ask us to repeat or rephrase it.
Remember the interview is your opportunity to get information from us so the key is to come prepared with your questions.
Finally, remember to be yourself.
