We are seeking an experienced General Manager to join and manage Western Toyota Edinburgh West.  You will lead people and operations across Sales, Parts and Service departments, seeking solutions and results that align with Toyota’s values, including Best Retailer in Town (BRIT). As a General Manager you will manage and motivate your management team of professionals, delivering results for the business. You will promote the Toyota brand through role modelling the skills and behaviours associated with ‘The Toyota Way’.

Highlights of the job:

  • Lead the centre team, personally demonstrating the behaviours and skills associated with The Toyota Way, ensuring all members of the centre team are inspired to promote the brand through unparalleled customer service
  • Maximise revenue streams, across all touch-points, using metrics such as customer lifetime value and vehicle lifetime value to help build on the value of the customer experience
  • Monitor performance across the centre and work with departmental managers to inspire high performance against agreed targets from their teams, reviewing progress and developing action plans where relevant
  • Manage, coach and develop individuals – ensuring training and development plans are in place across the team, fostering a growth mindset and culture
  • Lead the sales teams, ensuring effective processes and systems are in place to create and maintain a high level of customer focus
  • Collaborate with managers to attract, develop, motivate and retain people across the centre, reflecting the attitude and values of Toyota’s ‘Best Employer in Town’ people strategy.
  • Use data and insight intelligently on centre performance, coupled your with knowledge of trends, competitors and the automotive sector, to be able to lead the sales and customer teams by example
  • Direct and manage all key issues, investigating and resolving customer complaints, agreeing actions with managers
  • Maintain an overview of centre promotional and marketing activity and be involved where needed

Essential criteria:

  • Location of Centre
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Flexible to work hours required to carry out the role effectively and travel (to the training sessions and network events)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a customer-facing sales setting
  • Cross-industry management experience is welcome – automotive background is not essential
  • Good IT skills, (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and social media skills
