Douglas Brown

Chairman & CEO

Owner of the company since 1981.

Eastern Western Motor Group is a large business now, as you will read shortly when you get further into this brochure. Nonetheless, we are still family-owned and we are still a very ‘human’ business, where everyone steps up to help their colleagues and in particular, our new colleagues. You will be helped and supported from ‘day-1’ of your career with us, and everyone, me included, is available to help you settle in.

Nasser Mohammed

Group Financial Director

Joined the group in 1984 as an Assistant to the Group Accountant.

Having newly qualified with one of the four major international accountancy firms, I joined the Group in 1984 as ‘Assistant to the Group Accountant & Company Secretary’. I was promoted to Group Accountant & Company Secretary in the Spring of 1987, quickly moving into the role of Group Finance Director & Secretary in the Spring of 1988, this being the first time the company had a Finance Director since its inception in 1927.

Keith Duncan

Group Managing Director

Joined the group in 1991 as a Sales Manager.

I decided to join Eastern Western Motor Group in 1991, as Sales Manager at what was then called ‘Western Mercedes’ winning ‘Sales Manager of the Year’ in 1993, with a trip to Hong Kong as the reward. In 1994 I left EWMG (mistake!) to re-join what was now ‘Lex’ Vauxhall back in Glasgow, quickly moving to a Dealer Principal role with Lex running their Audi & Volkswagen businesses in the south of Glasgow.

Kenny Robb

Finance Director

Joined the group in 1991 as a Purchase Ledger Clerk.

I joined the Group in September 1991 from a small firm of accountants in Edinburgh where I started my accountancy training. I was employed at our Mercedes-Benz franchise in Colinton Road, Edinburgh and to this day there are still people working in the Group who were there when I started. At one point Keith Duncan and I worked together at this site.

Magnus Wang

Divisional Managing Director

Joined the group as a Sales Trainee in 1988.

I joined the group in 1988 as a Sales Trainee aged 19. To me it was a perfect fit, working with beautiful cars, in an exciting and good fun environment. During my first 2 years, I moved around the Group, working mainly with our auction disposal team which was a great education. I then spent time at our accident and repair centre and marketing departments, which gave me a great all-round appreciation of the inner-workings of the Group.

John La Trobe

Divisional Managing Director

Joined the group as a Sales Manager in 1997.

I joined Eastern Western Motor Group in 1997 as Sales Manager of Western Saab, Edinburgh. This was a great move for me and I was quickly promoted to General Manager of the Group’s first Volkswagen business in Falkirk, progressing quickly to become General Manager of Western Saab Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Graham Affleck

Divisional Managing Director

Joined the group as a Sales Trainee in 1990.

I joined EWMG as a Sales Trainee in 1990, gaining experience in Western Mercedes at Colinton Road and then in a range of departments across the Group. In 1992, I moved permanently to Western Citroen, initially as a Sales Executive, before becoming Fleet Sales Manager and finally Sales Manager of the business. In 1998, I joined Western Volkswagen in Falkirk as Sales Manager, and was promoted in 2001 to be General Manager of the newly built Western Volkswagen retailer in Grangemouth, overseeing the move from Falkirk.
